Insurance and security deposits
Understand the excess: the amount you may owe if the car is damaged or stolen. Third-party reimbursement cover and a supplier's zero-excess package work differently at the desk.
Confirm the required credit card, cardholder name and deposit amount. A debit card accepted for payment may still not satisfy the security-deposit condition.
Portugal's toll roads
Portugal uses both conventional toll booths and electronic-only roads. Ask how the vehicle records and bills electronic tolls and whether the rental company charges an administration fee.

If you are spending two or three days in Porto first, collect the car when you leave the city. Metro Line E already connects the airport and central Porto.
